What I'm loving : A/W Edition

Evening all!

Anyone that knows me, is well aware of my love for this time of year. Everything about the Autumn/Winter season just makes me so happy. This year, seems to be more exciting than other years so I just thought I'd share a few things that I'm loving about this Autumn/Winter so far!

Winter Hats
Before this year I had this anxiety towards hats. I used to avoid hat stands in shops like the plague. I was convinced that I could just not wear hats, ever. However, after an enlightening experience in Public Romance, I am all over the hat trend.

Here are some of my favourites:

Psst, there's a similar one to the hat above in Penneys at the moment. It's more penguin-like in features, and we all know penguins are so much better than owls.

Lazy Oaf's new line of clothing and accessories was inspired by the Looney Tunes. This is definitely one of my favourite picks from the collection.
Daffy Duck,
style icon since 1937.

Decorative Jewellery
This season, more is more, especially when it comes to jewellery. Chunky gold, big jewels and OTT earrings, someone is finally speaking my language. I feel like this season we're finally embracing the tack, and it feels so good.
River Island and Penneys, are the front runners to get your hands on some fashionable tack. Both of their selections are to die for.

This is my favourite pick from the Limited Edition collection in Penneys:

Faux Fur
To me,
nothing says glamour more than a bit of fur, whether it be a coat, gillet, hat, you name it, I love it!
I already have a beautiful faux fur coat which was featured on the blog already here. But I'm on the look out (and have been for almost a year), for a fur coat with a hood to channel my inner Stark. Recently, I've seen a beautiful white one in TK Maxx, so I might just treat myself to an early birthday present.

White Hot Chocolate
This time of year is the only time I feel it's acceptable to drink hot chocolate, and if you're going to drink hot chocolate, you might as-well do it right.
The only way, in my opinion, is a white hot chocolate from Butlers.
If you haven't already tried one, do it the next time you pass. You'll never regret it.

Open Fires
Now, I don't know is it the culchie in me or what, but nothing beats coming home in the evening and sitting down with a cup of tea beside the fire. Absolute bliss.

What are your favourite things about A/W?

Hope you're having a wonderful Tuesday!

Lots of love,

Sinead

Sunday Sum-up

Afternoon All!

I am absolutely wrecked after my week and taking full advantage of my Sunday by staying in bed and drinking copious amounts of tea.

I had the sudden urge to blog today and I thought it'd be fun to do a weekly round-up post, because I had a pretty fun week. :)

Monday
One of the many amazing things about my course this year is I get Mondays off. But this Monday wasn't spent relaxing, it was spent organising a few exciting projects that I'm going to be involved in over the next few months. One, involves the The Claddagh Ring shop, you can check out their website here.

Tuesday
Tuesday is the day where we get to be Photoshop nerds. I always feel so accomplished after this class, it's great. Here's what I made with lots of feathers this week.

Cool huh?

Wednesday
Nothing really happened on Wednesday, other than Tumblr for like 3 hours in college. Must say it was a very productive 3 hours.

Thursday
I went to the Roisin on Thursday, I drink in that bar way too much.

Friday
Friday marked the start of my mid-term (YAY!). It was also the day, we spent 3 hours doing line drawings for window display designs.

On Friday night, I went out for dinner to Fat Freddy's with my boyfriend, his mam and his sister. It was so nice to just chill out with good food, good people and very good wine. Here's what I wore, sorry the photo is so grainy, the light in the room isn't amazing.

Saturday
Most Saturday's I don't really do anything exciting other than work. For those who don't know I now work in Wedding World, which is a bridal boutique in town. I'll be doing a blog post on the shop soon, just so you get a look at what we do, and meet the lovely people who work there. :)
I then got a bus home for a quick bite to eat and shower, before I started into my second shift of the day at my other job as a sever in my dad's local.

So there you have it guys, that's about everything I got up to this week! I'm absolutely jaded after it to be honest, but I'm so happy to have a busy schedule again!

What did everyone else get up to this week?

Lots of love,

Sinead

Outfit of the Night #1

Evening all!

It's been awhile hasn't it?

I'd like to take this time out to apologize profusely for being so AWOL. College has just basically taken over my life. If I'm not at home doing an assignment, I'm in work experience and if I'm not at work experience, I'm working in the bar or in college itself. So, as you can imagine, any down time I've managed to get has been used to recharge.

I was going to post a sort of 'update post' tonight but I decided to ease back into the whole blogging thing by doing an outfit post. I haven't done one in too long now and I absolutely adored my outfit I wore out the last night so here it is.

I went out for on Thursday night to the Roisin Dubh with a couple of mates of mine. It was so nice to just kick back with a few pints and listen to some good music. Wasn't so nice the next morning, but that's beside the point!

Okay, now to the focal point of this whole post. Oh yes, those jeans. I stumbled upon these BEAUTS on a quick charity shop trip I took after college one evening last week. I couldn't believe my luck that I found a genuine pair of Levi's jeans that fit me like an absolute glove for €20. Some may say that's expensive for them, but I've been looking for a pair for so long now that I just didn't care. Plus, I've already been wearing them to death, so I'm getting my money's worth.

(LOL at my baby curls!)

I paired the jeans with my cut out boots from Penneys (shocker) and a gorgeous leopard print top that I picked up in the Topshop sale. If you hadn't had a look at the sale, you should!

Check out this hamsa hand necklace that I picked up from Penneys (Primark) for €1, I can never believe my luck when I pick up steals like that. Penneys for life yo!

Here are a few 'behind the scenes' pictures of me getting ready for the night...

The compulsory cuppa to calm the nerves because I can't get my lip liner straight and symmetrical.
 Stress.

Nearly have it straight....

Now some good news..

I have a load of exciting things coming up in the next few weeks that I'll be blogging about so be prepared for an onslaught of posts.

Can't wait to share it all with you guys!

Much love,

Sinead

College Diary - #1

Evening Internet!

As many of you know (or don't know), I'm taking a year out of my degree in NUIG, to complete the Fashion Industry Practices course in GTI.

I remember when I first learnt about this course, I was so excited. I always dreamed of moving to New York and working with Kelly Cutrone, organising fashion shows and fetching coffee for people. These dreams were shot to hell when I was told "GTI is for hippies and half brains"

(Thanks unnamed person. NOT)

However, all was not lost, because one faithful day in May of this year, I read a post by Erika Fox (Retro-Flame), explaining how she had done the course that I was going to undertake.

Half brains and hippies? I think not!

I know every year that this course is gaining more and more popularity but people are still puzzled by what we actually do. So I am here to enlightened you all my darlings.

I'm not going to make this a really long post to be honest, because I think I'm going to do a few of these posts throughout the year. I'll just show you a few things we are working on at the moment.

In our module Illustration Techniques we are being taught the basics of Photoshop. I absolutely adore this class, I always feel so accomplished after it. So far the basics have been pretty easy to grasp. I can't wait until we start learning more challenging techniques on it.

Here are two lookbooks I did in class:

Moodboards are also important in fashion, as they tell a story without using any words and sometimes it is easier to convey an idea through images than the written word.

Here's a moodboard I did of street wear and fashion on the runway that could be seen at New York Fashion Week.

Styling is another module we're doing a lot of work in at the moment. This class is such an enlightening and creative class. I'm learning so much about editors, photographers and stylists, essentials for breaking into the industry. We are also encouraged greatly in this class to be inspired by everything around us, which really makes you stop and actually appreciate your surroundings.

(Putting some things into my sketchbook)

Currently, we are working on an assignment where we have to research different photographers and stylists in the industry and I thought I'd introduce to you someone amazing I discovered,

He's storming the fashion photography industry, he's worked with Vogue, Elle, all the big names, and he'ss only 28! There's something raw about his work that just draws me in.
This picture of Chris Brown is one of my favourites.
Definitely check him out. :)

( Sourced at http://kaizfeng.com/ )

The awesome thing about this assignment is that we're going to have to put together a photo-shoot inspired by our favourite photographer or stylist. I already have so many ideas swimming around in my head, I can't wait to sit down with my friend Sara (who I have appointed as my photographer for the year), and brainstorm out an amazing concept for the shoot.

One of the great things about this course is that Work Experience is a compulsory module, which means we get hands on experience in the industry, something no amount of books can give you.

I received a call today confirming a trail day in a wedding boutique on Saturday, so hopefully they keep me on for work experience and maybe let me do a little post on an average working day there!
Fingers crossed!

So that's it for the first instalment of my college diary series!

What to see more?
